BIO
Tasha grew up in Brooklyn, NY near the beach, tons of sun and the Wonder Wheel. Known for its throngs of people and amazing rides by the time Tasha arrived there in the late 70s... Coney Island was infested with drugs and gang activity. She spent many days indoors listening to her uncle?s 45s and LPs, pretty soon she was helping her uncles "spin" at family functions and the love affair began. Along with her West Indian heritage Tasha fused the love of funk, soul, hip-hop, ska, salsa, reggae, soca and calypso. These different music genres would meld together into the love of house and classics.
Tasha shied away from Djing for nearly 15 years and returned 2.5 years ago, purchased a used set of technics and started her 1st residency soon after at Bar Below in Brooklyn, NY and she has not stopped since. She has appeared at several spots in and around NYC and Europe, as well as in-store appearances at Diesel @ 14th Street, 555-SOUL and the DJ Honda Store. She has also appeared on 919.9 FM
Not only has Tasha tried her hand at Djing but she is also pursuing a career in music production and acting. She has several commercials and indie films under her belt and just finished a year long stint in the off-Broadway hit "Birdy's Bachelorette Party." In her spare time she works with young actors and playwrights at the MCC theater here in NYC.
Currently, she has teamed up with England's own DJ Short-E (Emma Holmes) and her DJ Partner here in the states DJ Kwala (Kate Levitt) to form Deliberate Recordings; a record label that aims to produce music that is positive and express and invokes emotion.
